This week in Visual Art for Monday and Wednesday October 10th and 12th
Preschool: Firefighter Week *Preschoolers learned the Art Element of Shape. Students practiced fine motor skills while cutting and pasting shapes together to create a fire truck.
Kindergarten and First: In honor of Read-A-Thon students listened to the online book “The Fox and the Crane”.
Students learned about the art element of “Texture”. They designed a textured Fox.
Second: This week’s art project “Glue resist spider web”.Students used liquid glue as the primary ingredient. By, following the Golden Rule students created beautiful pieces of art by simply using glue and painting over the top with watercolor. This process creates a “relief” of glue residue.
Third and Fourth: Students learned how to draw in Perspective. They created a Harvest Scene by utilizing the skill of foreshortening. They made different sizes of pumpkins. They learned how to draw a horizon line, vanishing point and foreshortening.
Fifth: No Classes due to Teacher Inservice
Sixth, Seventh and Eighth: Each student learned about Coil Pottery. They discovered pottery as an art form which now defines ancient Native American civilizations and their lifestyles. They will let their coil pottery dry and then next week paint.
