The 5th graders have been busy with their PBL of how to order 5 meals with a budget of $50.00. They are using their 21st century learning skills of collaboration, communication and critical thinking to work together as a team. The restaurant was their choice along with what they ordered. Some groups wanted to use their extra money for a tip. They also had the wonderful experience of spending time with Jesus during Eucharistic Adoration where they prayed The Five Finger Prayer; have your child play teacher to teach you this prayer.
The 4th graders are rounding to estimate. They work together at the beginning of each class to solve a problem using inquiry; this week they found key words for rounding through this process. For example, to solve a problem about how many blocks are left, estimation was used. What a great activity you can do at home or at the store with your child; he or she could estimate how much your grocery bill might be or how much the bill would cost while eating out.
