We give thanks to our veterans who served our great nation with bravery. In this month of thankfulness, our students in 4th-6th grade took their gratitude to a creative level in computer science class, offered K-8 at Saint Ambrose School as part of their curriculum.
Students were challenged to use the Engineering Design Process in TinkerCAD to create 3D designs to enter into the Future Engineers “We Love Veterans” contest. This contest was to create a 3D-designed pin that shows appreciation for veterans. The top 10 winners will have their pin printed and given out at the National Veterans Memorial Museum in Columbus, Ohio.
Our students used their creativity and talents to express great gratitude for our veterans. As our patron Saint reminds us that gratitude is of paramount importance. This culture is evident throughout Saint Ambrose School and the parish as they continue to give back to others through acts of service and hospitality. Saint Ambrose students were proud to showcase their love and appreciation for our great nation and veterans through this innovative project.
When asked what inspired their designs, Ava D remarked “I was really inspired because I truly love America and let my heart lead my design.” Aubrey R shared that the American flag led the center of her design to express “ her great honor and thanks for our veterans.” Connor L’s design showcased an angel as he explained “ Angels are holy and watch over our veterans”.

Thank you to our STEAM teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Collins, and our Technology Director, Mrs. Amy Morgan for their work on providing this project opportunity to our students. Saint Ambrose School is proud to include STEAM classes as part of their curriculum for all students in grades K-8. These classes focus on computer science, project-based learning opportunities, coding, typing skills as well as digital citizenship. Saint Ambrose is proud to be the first designated STEAM school in Ohio.
