Tryouts for 7th grade power of the pen will be Monday, September 19 from 2;30-3:10. Power of the pen is a writing competition where students compete against other students from other schools in a district competition on February 4, 2017. If they qualify, they move on to the regional competition, then finally the state competition. This encourages students to write stories “outside the box.” We will meet on Mondays from 2:30-3:10. If your 8th grader was in this last year, they are automatically in this year if they choose. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to e mail me.

The 7th grade retreat is Tuesday, September 13. If you would like to send in a case of water, it would be greatly appreciated. We also could use some small bags of pretzels, chips, doritos, etc. or if you prefer, fruit snacks, granola bars, or rice krispie treats.

This week in ELA the 6th grade created a timeline. We also discussed authors’ purposes for writing. Friday we finished reading “Knots in my Yo-yo String.’ The 7th graders continue to read The Outsiders. The 8th grade is working on a project called “Unfamous People in History.” They will present their projects next week.
