For the 1st time in my teaching career, I am teaching golf to the 5-8th graders. Mrs. Takacks’ father donated golf equipment a while back and I have decided to use that in my classroom this year.  In the coming weeks, we will be learning the golf swing, chipping, putting, golf etiquette and why golf can important as they head to the working world in a few years. I am also working on finding a golf course to host the 8th graders for a field trip and have a mini golf outing. Hopefully, this mini-outing can become a yearly tradition for the 8th grade. Please look for more information in the next few weeks.

In grades K-4, we will begin a unit on rolling, as in rolling a ball. Rolling is a skill that is a lead up to throwing, which we will do in a few weeks. Some activities that I have planned are bowling pin dodgeball, rolling survivor and a few others. These activities, as do most of the activities I use, stress the skill being taught, as well getting the kids to do as much movement as possible during the lesson.
