Saint Ambrose School Receives STEM Grant to Enhance Hands-on Learning!

Saint Ambrose Catholic School is awarded $5,000 to expand STEM learning throughout the school for their project Ready, Set, Create and Build! Interactive LEGO Wall and Storage System!

Brunswick, OH July 6, 2022 –Saint Ambrose Catholic School will be awarded $5,00 to expand STEM learning projects through Ohio STEM Learning Network Classroom Grant Program, funded by Battelle. The grants will create sustainable, STEM learning projects to benefit students for years to come. This wall is finishing construction in the GIC and will be ready for the 2022-2023 school year!

At our school, the project, Ready, Set, Create and Build! Interactive LEGO® Wall and Storage System will further encourage our students to think creatively, reason, and release their potential to help shape their own creative future. Students “feel” they are being given the opportunity to play and create but are actually building spatial reasoning skills and knowledge of proportionality and patterns. Physics and engineering skills will be developed and cultivated. Learners will think in three dimensions using balance, height, and width while building different structures.

Many thanks to our incredible Institutional Advancement Team, who continue to actively seek and apply for grant funding opportunities for our school and partner with our faculty and administration to help facilitate and fill needs via grant funding.

LEGO® bricks teach a variety of math concepts such as addition, subtraction, fractions and division. Our younger students will develop their fine motor skills by building using their fingers and hand muscles. Our school consistently delivers a high-quality Next Generation learning environment and visionary education for all students. While developing Next Generation skills, the LEGO® wall will also teach students focus, resilience/overcoming failure or mistakes, and numerous skill sets.

In total, 151 classrooms across 55 Ohio counties join Saint Ambrose Catholic School in winning the award.

“The schools and educators awarded today will create powerful new experiences to amaze and inspire students,” said Kelly Gaier Evans, Director of the Ohio STEM Learning Network. “We invest in these programs to foster the next generation of Ohio innovators.”
