The fifth-graders are enjoying studying U.S. geography! This year, they will learn the locations of all 50 states, as well as each state’s capital. The kids are even learning a fun song to help them keep everything straight. As a fun extension activity, the students created their own country and designed a map with several features. Next week, the students will embark on a terrific project-based learning experience in which groups will study a particular region of the country and then plan a morning news show to report their research. They’ll even have the opportunity to film part of their news show in front of the green screen in the distance learning lab!
