We are blessed to celebrate our Catholic faith and each person who is made in the image and likeness of God. Black History Month was celebrated in many ways and with a culminating presentation by our students led by Ms. Wesleigh Stryker (HSP ELA Teacher) and Mrs. Kristin Butler (K-8 Music Teacher). Saint Ambrose High School Prep Middle School (Grades 6, 7, 8) students celebrated both in-person and virtually to honor Black History Month in a collaborative, creative, cross-curricular project.  Students wrote and shared creative narratives as well as poetry and artwork about Black Americans who inspire them. Inspirational historical figures highlighted included Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., athlete and military legend Jackie Robinson, writer Maya Angelo, mathematician Katherine Johnson, and Inauguration poet, Amanda Gorman.  The presentation ended with music students leading a resounding, “We Are Marching in the Light of God,” in Swahili on the school’s Tubano drums.

It was such a special afternoon,” remarked Principal Cinadr.  “It’s so uplifting to witness the creativity from our students sharing who inspires them.  The thoughtfulness of today’s program, largely orchestrated by the students themselves, is such a testimony to the heart of our school.  I’m so thankful to our faculty and staff for their creative and engaging work with our students each and every day.  What a great day to be together celebrating and honoring Black History, and a reminder that we are all created in the image and likeness of God – Imago Dei!
