What a great week we had this week! Next week (the week of 9/26 – 9/30) both third grade classes are taking a week break from our traditional Journeys lesson. Students did not get spelling lists today because there will be no spelling test on Thursday 9/29. If students did get the Lesson 5 spelling test, or want to get a head start on the following week (the week of 10/3 – 10/7), they can use that list or the one posted to Progress Book to work ahead. This also means that students will not have the traditional reading comprehension test and English test Friday. If there is a quiz they will take, that will be posted to PB next week.
We are taking a break to focus on some basic sight word spelling review, phonics patterns, math vocabulary, and more noun work. Students will have a writing workshop they will be spending a lot of ELA time with next week in order to prepare for Special Person’s Day too! Another fun thing we will be doing that they can look forward to is a readers theater performance they will put on with their groups after preparing and practicing all week. Students will have vocabulary and be assessed on the comprehension of the readers theater, but there will be more on this will be coming the beginning of next week :D
Third grade is hosting the prayer service for Friday and we invite everyone to come! If students have a special part, they will get this to practice early next week.
