Visual Art Update for Monday, Wednesday and Friday Jan. 29th and 31st and Feb. 2nd

Catholic Schools Week

Preschool: In collaboration with Preschool students learned about nursery rhymes. During art class students recognized and pointed out the similarities and differences between artistic styles.

Kindergarten: Students learned about the Bible story “Daniel and the Lions Den”. They then created their own interpretation of a lion with a collage mane. They examined one cultural piece of artwork and responded to the
visual, expressive features in the work.

visual, expressive features in the work. Mrs. Shreve’s class worked on a service project. They painted rocks with prayer messages.

Third:
Fourth: Students learned a new method for creating pottery. They developed skills in coil pottery. They manipulated the clay to form a 3-D vessel.

Fifth: Students finished the “Respect Life Artwork”. They incorporated the Bible verse
“…whatever you did for one of the least of My brothers, you did it for Me.” Matthew 25:40

Sixth: Students communicated how their personal artistic decisions were influenced by their social and environmental views. They started creating artwork for the LIFEWORKS art contest. The bible verse is “…whatever you did for one of the least of My brothers, you did it for Me.” Matthew 25:40

Seventh: Students drew in perspective. They imagined that they were architects and designed a church using two point perspective.

Eighth: Students communicated how their personal artistic decisions were influenced by their social and environmental views. They started creating artwork for the LIFEWORKS art contest. The bible verse is “…whatever you did for one of the least of My brothers, you did it for Me.” Matthew 25:40
