Visual Art Update for Monday Wednesday  & Friday October 16th, 18th, 20th  2017

 Silhouette 

Preschool: Students were learning in class about fire prevention. Students learned about warm versus cool colors. They created a red  “Hot” flame.

 

Kindergarten:Students learned about “Texture” the element of art. They created an owl collage. This was good practice for fine motor skills while cutting and pasting.

 

First:  Ending the STREAM project on pumpkins students created a pumpkin collage with expressive faces. We discussed emotions and feelings. They identified and pointed out visual art and design elements and principles in their own artworks and in those of others using art vocabulary.

 

Second: Students in Mrs. Kubas’s class. Mrs. Gati’s class created expressive pumpkin faces. They demonstrated increasing skill and craft in the use of art tools and materials with attention to their diverse qualities. They

envisioned what cannot be observed directly and depict it visually.

 

Third: Students learned about one point perspective, horizon line, and a vanishing point while designing a pumpkin patch.

They created artworks based on imagination and observation of familiar

objects and scenes.

 

Fourth: Students learned the definition of a silhouette. They were able to take ownership of their artwork by choosing a theme cat silhouette.

Fifth: Both classes had the opportunity to hear a presentation from Graphic Design Students from CSU. Graphic design, also known as communication design, is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. This form of communication may include images, words, or graphic forms.

 

Mrs. Stearn’s Class learned about one point perspective, horizon line, and a vanishing point while designing a pumpkin patch.

 

Sixth: No Classes Students are on their field trip Camp Damascus

 

Seventh: Students started presenting their famous artists to the class via Smartboard Presentation. The audience took notes and shared their thoughts.

 

Eight:   Students had the opportunity to participate in a presentation from Graphic Design Students from CSU. They discussed Graphic Design as a career and how it is a form of communication in art. They learned the basic skills of graphic design.
