Visual Art Weekly Update for

Monday, Wednesday  & Friday 1st , 3rd , & 5th

Preschool: Each student experimented with the printmaking technique. They created a tulip print using a utensil “fork”.

 

Kindergarten:  Students practiced drawing techniques. They created a reflection on their sunglasses of summer break vacations. They explained what it is like to observe something over a period of time. They communicated ideas and stories in their artwork.

 

First: each student learned about the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. We discussed the windy features and brush strokes in his painting the “Starry Night”. Afterwards, they envisioned their own starry night while utilizing the blue paint to v=create a background.

 

Second:  Students practiced drawing techniques. They created a reflection on their sunglasses of summer break vacations. They explained what it is like to observe something over a period of time. They communicated ideas and stories in their artwork.

Mrs. Graber’s class did not have art this week due to a field trip.

 

Fourth: Students started to learn about drawing in perspective.

 

Fifth: Students finished their art history famous artist presentations. They learned to describe and analyze works of art by the famous artists.

 

Sixth: Students started to learn about the history of “Mosaic’s”.

 

A mosaic is a piece of art or image made from the assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials. It is often used in decorative art or as interior decoration. … Mosaics have a long history, starting in Mesopotamia.

 

Seventh:  Collaboration with Social Studies. Students are  learning about the renaissance. We observed a painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. Students pointed out one point perspective in the “Last Supper” painting. Afterwards, each student created their own two point perspective drawing. They were challenged to incorporate other subject matter in their drawings.

 

Eight: Mrs. Hamzik’s class created a perspective drawing of a treehouse. They learned about how the vanishing points can go off the edge of the page. Students analyzed structural features of architecture.

Mr. Bolin’s class created a two point perspective drawing of a city scape.
