Visual Art Weekly Update for Monday, Wednesday & Friday August 28, 30 & September 1 2017
Students in the Primary grades learned the basic art elements. They continued to make connections with their peers during art class while utilizing the smartboard.
Fourth and Fifth grade students learned about proportions. They started drawing their eyes. We discussed the anatomy of the eye (iris, pupil etc.).
Scale and proportion in art are both concerned with size. Scale refers to the size of an object (a whole) in relationship to another object (another whole). In art the size relationship between an object and the human body is significant.
HSP learned about proportion while creating a self-portrait.
After completing this lesson, students will be better able to: • Define the term “self-portrait” • Identify and analyze key components of a portrait and relate visual elements to relevant context and significance • Develop creative symbols while practicing fine arts skills.
