Catholic campus ministry is the practice of organizing and coordinating ministry or service of the Catholic Church on the campus of our school. Campus ministry is an important mission opportunity in developing young adult leaders. It allows our students to grow in their faith through for worship, service, small groups and fellowship.
Your student(s) can get involved in one of the ministries below!
Our ministry gives students in grades 5-12 the opportunity to assist at the Table of the Lord during weekend Masses and liturgical celebrations such as Weddings, Confirmation and First Holy Communion, Holy Week Masses and services, Easter and Christmas Masses.
There are training sessions for students that are interested in becoming an alter server. Training sessions are held several times throughout the year, and consist of two sessions, each about 1 ½ hours in length. Contact Helen for details on upcoming training sessions. Servers are usually scheduled about twice a month for the weekend Masses.
Altar Servers are called to have an open heart, flexibility when things change, and most importantly, commitment to fulfilling weekend assignments to serve at Mass. As servers become more experienced, all students have an opportunity to become an MC server, Master of Ceremonies, to demonstrate their responsibility and maturity.

Those serving in the cantor ministry volunteer their time to lead the Assembly of God in song. Cantors rehearse once a month, usually on a designated Tuesday of the month. Cantors sing as school masses, prayer services and weekend Masses.

The choir is for any child in grades 1-8. The choir practices every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 pm and sings once or twice a month at the 9:00 am Sunday mass from September through May. This choir also sings on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Easter and First Eucharist.

Being a Greeter is for EVERYONE! This is a simple but meaningful ministry. Arrive 20- minutes before the start of the Mass of your choosing, stand by the entrance of the church, put a smile on and welcome everyone to Saint Ambrose as we pass out Missals. You can greet every week or once a month. Anyone of any age can be a greeter or be done as a family!

Lectors are part of a faith-based ministry rooted in the proclamation of God’s Word. Just as a priest is instrumental in nourishing the souls of God’s elect through the Liturgy of the Eucharist, lectors minister to God’s faithful through the Liturgy of the Word, which Scriptures define as “with God from the beginning, and who is Christ made flesh.”(John 1:1-14)
First and foremost, a lector must have a fervent love for God’s Word. They must also have strong reading and presentation skills, with the ability to directly touch the hearts of God’s congregation through the proclamation of the Word.

These students prepare the sacred vessels, wine, hosts and other liturgical items before and after school Masses.

The Usher ministry welcomes both boys and girls with the gift of hospitality and caring. Ushers perform a variety of services including greeting people before and after Mass, assisting with seating, helping with offertory collection, assisting with communion traffic flow, distributing bulletins, and collecting for Catholics Works of Mercy.
