Congratulations to Mrs. Lori Schlueter and Eighth Graders: Katie, Serena, and Daniel! They have been chosen to present during the OETC (Ohio Educational Technology Conference) in February 2017! Their presentations will highlight geospatial projects that St. Ambrose has implemented during 2016!

Junior High Students worked on a Drug Project this week, that was a collaborative effort with Mrs. Schlueter, Mrs. Kinley, Mr. Gasparro, and Mrs. Morgan. Students received brain scan samples of a healthy brain and a brain that was addicted to heroin. They coded using internal sensors to collect data and measure the brain damage occurred during drug usage. Students also learned about babies born addicted to heroin and that genetic mutations could be passed down to their children. Students also heard a powerful presentation from a heroin addict in recovery through the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga/Medina.

4th grade students enjoyed a collaborative music & coding project with Mrs. Schlueter and Ms. Friedman! Students are learning how to play recorders (using instruments) to make music. They have learned that recorders are one of the early instruments without key mechanisms. Students learned about the history of instruments and that many instruments have key mechanisms today, including a flute, saxophone, and oboe. When materials changed and key mechanisms were used to design instruments, then instruments could be tuned.

All other computer science students work on our Climate Change research project! They learned about rising temperatures that are affecting endangered animals (sea turtles). Students researched temperatures across the globe by using ArcGIS tools.
