This week in Visual Art for for Monday, Wednesday, & Friday December 5th, 7th, &9th
Preschool: Students learned about how art can be three dimensional. They created a gingerbread house with doors that opened and closed. They practiced cutting and pasting items to their house.They are developing an increased ability to find more than one solution to a problem.
Kindergarten: Mrs. Kautzman’s class created a Church Collage using tissue paper and glue. Mrs. Gove’s class missed art class due to Music Practice for the Christmas Concert.
First: Students practiced drawing Baby Jesus in his manger. We discussed the true meaning of Christmas and the celebration of Jesus’s Birthday.
Second: Students showed knowledge of the basic Color Theory while creating a church college. They utilized small pieces of tissue paper to create a collage church They had the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to cut and paste effectively.
Third: Students continued working on their “Holy Family” portrait. They learned about the artist Gustav Klimt. They used his style as a point of departure in choosing an image that clearly illustrates the Holy Family.
Fourth and Fifth: Each student created a Art History Timeline Flow Chart. Students learned the role of historical and contemporary societies. They utilized their research skills as a means of exploring.
Sixth and Seventh:
Students added finishing touches to their glass windows using paint and glue.They applied Christian symbols
Eighth : Students researched the art history timeline. They were assigned a period in art history to present to the class the following week. They Researched relevant eras in art history using images from indexes and databases.Students will also develop an awareness of the power of images to influence their audience in various social and historical contexts, other cultures and historical era’s.
