This week in Visual Art for for Monday, Wednesday, & Friday December 12th,14th &16th

 

Preschool: Children used their fine motor skills to paint. They compared, predicted, planned, and problem solved. This was a thumbprint elf art project.

 

Kindergarten: Each student created their own snowflake ornament made out of puzzle pieces. Afterwards they painted the snowflake. Students appreciated the aesthetic design. They identified the size, shape, and color.

 

First:  Students designed a collage of the “Three Kings”. They identified the texture and other art elements.

 

No Class: Mrs. McCarthy Reed’s due to clas music practice.

 

Second: Mra. Kubas’s Class visited the DLL to investigate the intricacies of the individual snowflake. They had the opportunity to participate in a discussion about American artists.

 

Mrs. Shreve’s class created a “Three Kings” Collage on Friday. They fostered a development and awareness of the visual arts while connecting their Catholic faith.

Third:Students learned about the history of the cross. They observed different crosses. For example:

The term Greek cross designates a cross with arms of equal length, as in a plus sign, while the term Latin cross designates a cross with an elongated descending arm. Numerous other variants have been developed during the medieval period.

 

Fourth: Students painted Christmas Trees as a collaborative art project for the Christmas Concert. They utilized the ruler to measure the branches on the tree limbs..They recognized that public art contributes to the vitality of the community.

 

Fifth: Each student created a Art History Timeline Flow Chart. Students learned the role of historical and contemporary societies. They utilized their research skills as a means of exploring.

 

Sixth: Mrs. Demboski’s Class was shortened due to the Christmas Tree Blessing. Started researching famous artists from an Art History Timeline.

Mrs. Kadlec’s class investigated an individual snowflake. They went to the DLL to observe and participate in activity on six pointed snowflakes. They applied principles of geometry for duplicating the structure and symmetry of snowflakes.
Seventh and Eighth: Students researched the art history timeline. They were assigned a period in art history to present to the class the following week. They Researched relevant eras in art history using images from  indexes and databases. Students also developed  an awareness of the power of images to influence their audience in various social and historical contexts, other cultures and historical era’s.
