Visual Art Weekly Update for Monday Wednesday,

Feb. 6th, 8th, & 10th
Preschool: Students created a mobile of hearts. They learned about the artist Alexander Calder. They observed some of his artwork via Smartboard. Afterwards they invented their own mobile of hearts.
Kindergarten: Students learned about Positive and Negative Space. They created a heart shape using colored construction paper. Some of the vocabulary terms they learned were: Positive and Negative Space, Texture, Color schemes, Line, Shape,
Design, Composition, Pattern
First: Students finished their mosaic. They demonstrated integrative thinking while adding each tile to create a good composition.
Second: Students utilized their watercolors to create a Chinese Scroll painting.
Third: Students learned about radial design. They developed a pattern using paper squares to create a radial paper relief design.
Fourth: Students learned about radial design. They developed a pattern using paper squares to create a radial paper relief design.
Fifth: Students learned about radial design. They developed a pattern using paper squares to create a radial paper relief design.
Sixth: Students learned about the artist Charley Harper. He is a Cincinnati-based American Modernist artist. He was best known for his highly stylized wildlife prints, posters and book illustrations.
Seventh: Students finished the Respect Life Art Contest. They started painting a landscape scene with a cardinal bird. They were inspired by the artist: Charley Harper. Eighth: Students learned about the artist Michelangelo. They read an article regarding Michelangelo’s “Pieta”. It is a sculpture of Mary holding and grieving over the dead body of Christ. The word “Pieta” means “pity”.
Mrs. Hamzik’s class worked on the map prototyping and finished their Respect Life art contest.
