Visual Art Weekly Update for Monday Wednesday, & Friday

Feb. 13th, 15th, & 17th

 

Preschool: Each student created their own necklace. They learned how to invent and discover one of the many rich crafts produced within the Native American culture. They observed the history and legend of a story necklace with creatures representing spirits, animals, and ancestors.

 

Kindergarten: Students observed and learned about the history of a Native American story necklace with creatures representing spirits, animals, and ancestors. Afterwards, they invented their own story necklace using string and straws.

 

First: Students learned about the printmaking process. They created their own prints using a celery stalk.

 

Second: Students finished their  watercolors Chinese Scroll painting. Afterwards, they had a chance to draw a sketch and/or make a valentine.

 

Third:  Students finished their watercolors Chinese Scroll painting.Afterwards, they had a chance to draw a sketch and/or make a valentine.

 

Fourth: Mrs. Parente’s class had Map testing. Mrs. Noga’s class finished their Radial Paper Relief artwork and had an opportunity to utilize their Chromebooks to create digital art (graphic art).

 

Fifth: Each student finished their Radial Paper Relief artwork. They developed a pattern using paper squares to create a radial paper relief design. Afterwards, students researched a country and drew the cultural features. For example: Using creative expression students developed an understanding of the country’s cultural arts.

 

Sixth: Students learned about the artist Charley Harper. He is a  Cincinnati-based American Modernist artist. He was best known for his highly stylized wildlife prints, posters and book illustrations.

Mr. D’s class started working on the brochure cover for the spring concert. The criteria included the principles of design. They had the option to utilize their Chromebooks to create a graphic design cover page. Others created a rough draft drawing on paper.
Eighth: In groups of two students researched a country and drew the cultural features. For example: Using creative expression students developed an understanding of the country’s cultural arts.
