The District Invention Convention took place in our computer science classrooms last week. Top projects were presented to a team of judges (Mrs. Cinadr, Mrs. Hamzik, Mr. Dziedzicki, and Mrs. Parente) through a blind judging opportunity (no pictures, student names, or grade levels were included with the project descriptions).
The following 3 projects were selected to go to the Invention League State Competition in Columbus [July 30, 2017]:

- Cool Cows (2nd & 3rd grader)
The following projects were winners in their grade levels and have the opportunity to compete for Invention League State Competition seats as well. All qualifying students will need to create a video that explains their inventions. More information will be sent home with winning students!

The National Weather Service (NOAA) visited our students this week! They discussed careers with The National Weather Service and a special project that our junior high student interns will work on this summer. NOAA has partnered with Saint Ambrose School and The Ohio STEM Impact Network to provide environmental research involving finding flooding vulnerabilities through watershed analysis using ArcGIS!
Students have started the Phase II session for The Homeless Project this week. They assisted with prototyping, testing, and budgeting! During testing, the homeless products stayed warm, often reaching over 70 degrees Fahrenheit!
Mrs. Schlueter and junior high students, Daniel, Katie, and Serena presented at OETC on Thursday, 2/16! They did a wonderful job teaching other teachers/schools about geospatial technology! The Ohio Board of Regents were pleased with our geospatial sessions and provided ArcGIS licenses to interested schools. Special thanks to Mrs. Morgan for her assistance with student support!
