This morning the children had a wonderful start to the Lenten season by attending the 8:15 Ash Wednesday Mass. We also discussed Lent and the symbols of ashes on our forehead. The children also learned that Lent is forty days and we are completing a Lenten coloring chart to track the forty days of Lent.
We have a paper cross hanging on our classroom door. Every time a student does something nice or helps another student or adult, he or she will paste a piece of purple paper onto our cross. By Easter, we should have a beautiful mosaic cross hanging on our door. :)
We will also be making Resurrection Eggs in religion class to help teach the students the Easter story. Please be sure to send twelve plastic eggs to school with your child (that can be written on) and an empty egg carton labeled with your child’s name by Tuesday. I will provide the remainder of the materials. :)
The children will be placing a symbol into an egg daily and will be creating a coordinating book to coincide with the eggs. It will be an exciting learning experience!
Friday is the last day to contribute to our Senior Dog Shelter collection. If you are able, please consider donating to help God’s wonderful senior creatures in need.
Have a wonderful week!
