6th grade students worked a special coding with cancer cells project where they determined which type of lung cancer they were working on by their research, coding, data analysis, and collaboration with other students! A guest from Solutions Behavioral Health presented lung cancer statistics, a video, and props that were exposed to smoking (lungs, teeth, and phlegm). This lesson impacted students in a positive way, just ask them about it! See the press release

Students K – 2 continued makerspaces by making prototypes that help the environment and structures that withstand an earthquake.
3rd graders started Coding with Cultural Understanding by learning about the Inuit Mussel Hunt through the Allen Distinguished Educators DIY grant. They also learned about the race with the frozen tide, then coded a Scratch game about what they learned.
4th, 5th, and 7th graders began working with ArcGIS through the ConnectED program and national initiative to bring geospatial technology to all K-12 schools. They began learning how to use ArcGIS by manipulating maps and analyzing data through climate change with oceans from the 1700s, malaria, and mega cities.
Students in 8th grade created prototypes in their makerspace to help solve world hunger, promote sustainable agriculture, and create food security through the United Nations World’s Largest Lesson: Global Goals of Sustainable Development!
