We at Saint Ambrose take the responsibility of forming our students into safe, responsible and respectful digital citizens.  We are recognizing the week through a variety of activities based on specific themes for each day.  Each grade level had resources and lessons available to them that are designed so that the teachers can easily implement each one with their class.  We are using resources from Common Sense Media (www.commonsensemedia.org) and NetSmartz (http://www.netsmartz.org).  The daily themes are as followed:

Monday: Internet Safety

Tuesday: Computer Care

Wednesday: Content Search and Copyright

Thursday: Digital Footprint and Social Media

Friday: Write and Sign Digital Pledges

The goal of this week is to spread the message of being safe, responsible and respectful in everything we do online.

Digital Citizenship Week is also a perfect time for families to reflect on the role technology plays in our lives.  Common Sense Media says home environments also shape kids’ relationships with technology.  They have started a #DeviceFreeDinner challenge.  We are asking you to try this with your families.  Follow this link https://www.commonsensemedia.org/device-free-dinner to download the challenge and try it with your family!  Share a photo or message on Twitter @SAS_Brunswick #DeviceFreeDinner and tell us how it went!
