Good Afternoon Parents!
It is only Tuesday and we are already having an exciting week in class!
In order to meet the needs of each student nd help each student reach their potential, I am differentiating homework in reading and grammar. You should find a copy of your child’s assignment schedule in their red take home folder today. In addition, you should have found a copy of your child’s homework assignment.
I also personally sat down with each student to conduct a Dolch sight word assessment for planning purposes only. Your child will be bringing home a personalized sight word list weekly. An oral assessment will be given one week from the date the sight words are sent home.
In class today, the students also practiced a barricade drill in case of an emergency. Sgt. Laino of the Brunswick police Department and Mrs. Cinadr came around to each classroom to see if they could enter into our classrooms order to be sure that we are safe and secure in the event of an actual emergency.
The children did a great job! I am proud to say that Sgt. Laino and Mrs. Cinadr were unable to gain access into our classroom.
Please remember that on Friday morning our class will be going to shop at the school Santa Shop. Please be sure to send money to school in a LABELED envelope if your child will be making some purchases for gifts.
This morning the children left one of their shoes outside of the classroom and St. Nicholas came and filled them with candy treats.
The children also received a visit from St. Nicholas and St. Ambrose. The students were also given the opportunity to ask them questions.
In Social Studies we are currently learning about Christmas traditions around the world. The children learned about traditions in Mexico and in France. The students enjoyed seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up for the holiday.
In Math we are learning how to add double digit numbers together.
In Science we are learning about weather and the water cycle.
In Religion we are learning about the story of Christmas. This week we talked about the Annunciation and The Visitation. We also began to make our own Nativity sets. We are still in need of empty toilet tissue rolls.
We are also working hard on preparing for our upcoming Christmas concert.
Please remember to continue to send in aluminum tabs for the ill children and their families at The Ronald McDonald House.
Stay tuned for more exciting classroom news!
