The fourth-graders worked hard on a cross-curricular social studies and English project in which they each researched a famous Ohioan from the 1800s or early 1900s. They went through the entire writing process in class, which involved researching, writing down facts on note cards, organizing the information, drafting a four-paragraph report, revising, editing and then typing. The students also learned how to make a bibliography. For the social studies component, they created dioramas or models showcasing a scene or event from their person’s life. The dioramas were absolutely amazing! They also presented to the class, pretending to be their famous Ohioan. I am incredibly proud of the students’ creativity, diligence and effort on this challenging endeavor!
