Good Afternoon! We are having another beautiful day in first grade.
I would like to start setting up the students individual book bins this week. I ask that you send in between 5-10 books for your student to keep in their book bin. They will use book bins during reading groups as well as free time.
I ask that the books are age appropriate and on your child’s reading level. Please write your child’s name inside each book, just in case they put them back in the wrong bin. Students will be allowed to bring in news books to switch out as they tire of the ones they have. A good place to find cheap books is in the Scholastic book flyer. They often give you the grade level too, which can be very helpful. I’ve also had parents bring in books from the library and switch them out weekly.
Books are very important at this age. We can encourage the love of reading by providing many opportunities to read all kinds of books. Thank you for your cooperation.
