Hello All,
It’s amazing to think that it’s Week 4 of the First Quarter! I wanted to share a few thoughts and moments with you.
Kindergarten – 3rd Grade have been focusing on Grade Level Standards. Including Solfege and reading rhythm through songs, games, and movement.
4th Grade have been focusing on reading rhythm and preparing for our recorders!
Our 5th-6th Grade Children’s Choir has been learning Jubilate Deo, a Latin cannon. The students have successfully learned the words and melody and now we are working on the cannon aspect of this piece. If you click on the link below a recording of the student’s singing the melody should play. Our important word for rehearsals has been FOCUS. Our main topics of discussion have been on posture, tall vowels, head voice, and active listening. Through the warm-up sequence and pieces the students will learn a variety of rehearsal skills and techniques!
7th-8th Grade have been focusing on Pitch vs. Tone and Timbre. Students should be setup on their Google Classroom for Music Appreciation. Class Materials, Assignments, Questions, and reminders will be posted on there for students to complete.
Saint Ambrose Day School Mass Choir had its first rehearsal today! The student’s learned about parts of the mass and music for the All School Mass tomorrow.
Glee Club will begin next Monday, September 26, 2016 from 2:30-3:30 pm in Lehner John.
Fall Sport Practices seem to be conflicting with Monday rehearsals after school for both Mass Choir and Glee Club. If your child has expressed interest but can not attend the first few rehearsals due to Sports, I am willing to make an exception. I want all children to have the opportunity to sing. PLEASE EMAIL ME IF THIS SITUATION IS KEEPING YOUR CHILD FROM JOINING EITHER GROUP.
