Saint Ambrose students and fellow fourth graders Alexiah and Tessa have been selected as one of top nine year old TOPS NATIONAL QUALIFIER with USAG Gymnastics, placing these gymnasts as one of the TOP 100 nine year olds in the country!
Let us congratulate them and pray for them as they travel this next week to Texas to compete at the Olympic Gymnastics Training Center October 7th-10th; where Olympic athletes Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and Laurie Hernandez train for national, world and Olympic competitions.
The girls, on a team with eight other qualifiers, call themselves the “Texas Ten”.
This is one of the highest honors a TOPS gymnast can receive by USAG gymnastics in the nation for gymnastic physical abilities and skills. These student athletes train at Five-Star Gymnastics in Brunswick, Ohio 5-7 days a week putting in 20-25 hours per week under the direction of Coach Jacqueline Krist. They are top academic students and also engage in other activities as dance, soccer and piano. This program’s path is designed for gymnasts stepping into a development program for elite athletes who are considering training for collegiate, national, olympic and world competitions in the future.
