Visual Art Update for Friday October 8 & 10 (no school Friday due to Teacher in Service)

Preschool: No school Teacher in Service

Kindergarten: Students finished their Vincent Van Gogh Sunflowers.

First: Students learned about Saint Francis Of Assisi (Love for Animals). They designed their own silhouette of animals.

Francis’ devotion to God was expressed through his love for all of God’s creation. St. Francis cared for the poor and sick, he preached sermons to animals, and praised all creatures as brothers and sisters under God. St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology, was born in Italy around 1181 or 1182.

Second: We started a STREAM project learning about spiders. Each student started to design a spider in motion.

Third:

Fourth: Students finished their collage on all about owls. They experimented with art materials by using them in unexpected and creative ways to express ideas and convey meaning.

Fifth: Students are learning perspective in art. How to zoom in on a painting. Each student will decide on an animal eye to zoom in on and draw in perspective. They will later paint the patterns and designs of the animal features.

Sixth: No school Teacher in Service

Seventh: We are starting a STREAM project with Mr. LaGuardia on Zoo animals. Each student will produce a digital animal that lives in a zoo. They will follow up with Mr. LaGuardia.

Eight: A collaborative project is underway. Students are learning about Cardinal Virtue verse Capital Sin. Each student will create an artist statement before they begin a painting. They will utilize the paints to express the meaning of Cardinal Virtue or Capital Sin.
