Visual Art Update for Monday Wednesday  & Friday  September 25th, 27th, & 29th, 2017

Preschool, Kindergarten and First:  Students developed skills in the printmaking making process. They created a print using an apple. They learned about positive and negative space. *Note Mrs. Whitmer’s class was on a field trip.

Second:  Students created their own space alien using clay. They demonstrated proper tool usage, building techniques, and glaze application.

Third: Students learned about “Collage” while designing an owl. They learned how to express themselves through recreating an image that has been abstracted from its original picture.

Fourth and Fifth, Sixth: : Each student designed a “Rover”. They identified, and selected three dimensional shapes to build a “Rover”. They experimented with different designs and strategized to come up with a functional “rover” to be used in outer space.

A rover (or sometimes planetary rover) is a space exploration vehicle designed to move across the surface of a planet or other celestial body. Some rovers have been designed to transport members of a human spaceflight crew; others have been partially or fully autonomous robots. They generated ideas and employed a variety of techniques to solve a visual problem.

Seventh & Eighth:  Started Painting a “Harvest Scene”. They will develop a working concept of what it means to be an artist and create a painting. They will build confidence through the exploration of different types of painting techniques.
