Visual Art Update for Wednesday & Friday November 8th, and 10th

Preschool: The cross-curricular theme this week is “Eat Healthy” ( Respect for your Body). In art class students produced a collage of made of food. We discussed healthy food and human dignity.

Kindergarten: Mrs. Kautzman’s class finished their spider webs while practicing fine motor skills tracing the web with black marked. Mrs. Gove’s class was cancelled due to Parent-Teacher Conferences.

First:Each student learned about the history of stained glass windows in the church. They learned about Christian Symbols and meanings. They created their own stained glass windows using paint and black glue as the lead.

Second: Students created artwork based on their imagination and observation of familiar
objects and scenes. They learned about Christian Symbols and meanings. They created their own stained glass windows using paint and black glue as the lead.

Third: Students finished a Cross Curricular PBL with Mrs. Rego. They added many details to their Saints.

Fourth: Students problem solved while creating a candy cane overlap. We briefly discussed the concept of perspective and what attributes shapes can make.They repeated the symbol of the candy cane and added the Jesus candy Cane poem.

Fifth: Students focused their attention on selected artworks to identify and pose questions about aesthetic qualities. They created a Christmas scene utilizing paint as the art medium. They also learned about Monochromatic colors.

Sixth: Students started a collaborative art project. They are to graph a painting from small to large. They finished the background with monochromatic colors.

Seventh: No classes Parent -Teacher Conferences

Eighth: Each student generated ideas and engaged in thoughtful planning when solving a visual art problem. They experimented with pastels as the art medium.
