Visual Art Weekly Update for
Monday Wednesday, & Friday
March 20, 22nd , 24th
Preschool: Students identified types of lines, such as long and short, thick and thin, and straight and curved. They created a watercolor painting using lines as the subject matter.
Kindergarten: Students identified primary and secondary colors. We discussed how colors related to feelings and moods. Using various types of lines students created a self-portrait with crazy gahir attached.
First: Students continued working on the STREAM project while creating an image of an animal eye. We discussed looking at things in perspective and zooming in on a specific area.
Second: Student created a watercolor painting. They learned different watercolor techniques. They pointed out details and responded to expressive features in their artwork.
Third: Student created a watercolor painting of the ocean and the animals in it. They learned different watercolor techniques. They pointed out details and responded to expressive features in their artwork.
Fourth: Students learned about the relationship between color and mood while utilizing pastels. They observed a video on different techniques using pastels. . They reviewed the concepts necessary for creating an illusion of space on a 2-D surface.
Fifth: Students created a treehouse perspective drawing. They demonstrated craftsmanship and skill to solve an artistic problem. Each student generated an idea and engaged in thoughtful planning while drawing their perspective treehouse.

Seventh: In Mr. D’s class students finished their watercolor painting of the ocean. Mrs. Stern’ss class In groups of two students started researching a famous artist. They will give a presentation via Smartboard on their artist in the next few weeks.
Eight: Students in Mrs. Hamzik’s class were inspired by the artist Hokusai. They recreated “The Great Wave” using watercolor paints. Mr. Bolin’s class started researching a famous artist. They will give a presentation on the artist after spring break.
