We have completed another fun-filled yet educational week in first grade.  The following is a list of what our learning focused upon in each subject area:

Religion:  We learned the story of creation and that God is the creator.

Math:  We practiced counting to 120 and identified numbers missing from a given sequence.

Language Arts:  We completed our Super Kids beginning of year review.  We learned about quotation marks and apostrophes to show ownership.

The children are also learning the elements of a good sentence.  We are also writing sentences.

Science:  We studied the five senses.  The students had a fantastic time using four of their four senses to hypothesize what the mystery object is in the sock they were examining.

Social Studies:  We learned the importance of making good choices and how our choices affect ourselves and others.

Penmanship:  We have been practicing proper form and positioning of letters.

EXCITING EVENTS:

:) Thank you to Mr. Sepesy for coming to class as the Mystery Reader on Friday.  The children really enjoyed your books and your visit! :)

:) We celebrated Collin’s birthday! :)

:) Dylan was our Star Student this week.  We enjoyed looking at his wonderful photos and his legos! :)

*London is our Star Student for the upcoming week.  We are looking forward to learning more about him. :)

*The children will continue to take STAR assessments this week.   The students will also begin to take some Super Kids assessments for instructional planning and skill assessments.
