This week in Visual Art for Monday, Wednesday, & Friday September 26th, 28th, & 30th
Preschool: Each student used an apple to create a monoprint on paper. They enjoyed dipping the apple in the different colors of paint.
Kindergarten: Students designed their own autumn leaf print.They applied paint and utilized the leaves as a tool to print. They learned the definition of a monoprint (to print one of a kind).
First:Students had the opportunity to experiment with the tools on TINKERCAD.(Tinkercad is a simple, online 3D design and 3d printing tool for the masses. Whether you’re a designer, hobbyist, teacher, or kid, you can use Tinkercad to make toys, prototypes, home decor, Minecraft models, jewelry – the list is truly endless! )They resized and applied color to the apple. They moved the shape of the apple . Exploring the process of alignment. Opposed to using a paintbrush or pencil they utilized the computer as a tool to create art.

We discussed “proportion” in art and how artwork can appear to look 3-D
Second: Students tried a new technique *watercolor resist. They designed an image of an owl and drew a pattern in crayon. Afterwards, they applied watercolor paint.

Fourth : Students drew an eye of an animal up close. They learned about Perspective (is an art technique for creating an illusion of three-dimensions (depth and space) on a two-dimensional (flat) surface.Perspective is what makes a painting seem to have form, distance, and look “real”).

Sixth: Students utilized their chromebooks. They used Google drawings to create a digital cover for our community for Veterans Day. The card will go home to St Ambrose Parishioners.

Eighth: They completed their rolled paper design. Afterwards, they reflected and revised in groups.

Endangered and Threatened Species will be on display September 1, 2016 through February 28, 2017 in the Youth Art Gallery located at Security Checkpoint A. Information regarding an Opening Reception will be sent out at the beginning of the school year.
CLE’s Youth Art Program is dedicated to providing youth artists with the opportunity to exhibit their artwork in a professional atmosphere. The Youth Art Gallery rotates periodically throughout the year.
