Kindergarten: First day for art class in Kindergarten. Each student had the opportunity to learn about the elements of art. They utilized the Smartboard to create digital art and learn about shapes, colors, etc.

First: “Color Wheel Turtles”
Students learned the primary colors on the color wheel (Red, Blue, and Yellow). They created a color wheel turtle.

Second Third & Fourth Grade: learned about Saint Francis of Assisi and his love for nature and the environment.
Students responded to artworks by identifying the principles of design and the subject matter in the paintings (animals). The students incorporated a psalm that relates to God’s creatures of the earth (artistically incorporating these words and letters into their painting). Each student was able to identify images of animals that represent a culture or religion in an artistic point of view. Each student will learn about the principles of art, which include; line, shape, color, forms, balance, rhythm, emphasis and unity. Each student learned about art history and the religious and cultural inspirations. Each student will learned about Saint Francis Assisi’s devotion to nature.

5th Grade: will be creating a Self Portrait.
This is a Collaborative Project with LA (Mrs. Antonius). Students will read the Book “Wonder”. The book “Wonder” is about a child that is different. Students will imagine themselves in a different way. Creating a self-portrait (half human, half animal) to describe themselves. When finished with the portrait students will write about their feelings in a poem attached to the portrait.

6th, 7th, & 8th Grade:Students will create a self-portrait. They will gain an appreciation for the drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Students will show human emotion
Students will draw facial features in correct proportion – studying ratio of eye width to the rest of the facial features
Students will create values by varying pencil pressures
